Eleutherna, Crete, and Abroad
The Study Centre of the Museum of Ancient Eleutherna and the University of Crete are organizing a conference entitled “Eleutherna, Crete, and abroad…”, planned to take place in Rethymno, Crete from Thursday 31 of May until Sunday 3 of June 2018. The aim of the conference is to appraise Crete’s place within the “international” developments of each period examined, looking at those influences received and those adopted by cultures that came into contact with Crete. Small and large topics, even single, hitherto unknown artefacts that add to our knowledge of these direct or indirect contacts, as well as the evidence from epigraphic, literary, and historical sources and their verification, or not, through archaeological research are welcome. All papers will be published in the conference proceedings, which will form a monograph and reference book on the subject. The conference will cover the themes diachronically (Prehistoric Age to Early Byzantine period). Τhe languages of the conference will be Greek, English and Italian.
Information on the exact location of the conference, the program and other details of the event will be announced shortly.
